An Introduction

Let me just come right out and say it: Starting a blog is a scary thing.

But everything needs a beginning, and so this will be mine.

When I told my younger siblings Henry and Valerie that I was going to start a blog, and what I was going to name it, they laughed and laughed. My dad had to step in and tell them to stop laughing, that's how hard they were laughing. They weren't laughing at the idea of me starting a blog (They both know I am very strange and that I like to do strange things. Things like writing for unseen people, constantly quoting Anne of Green Gables, and keeping my bathroom clean.). No, they were laughing at the name of my future blog-to-be.

In Henry's own words: "It sounds like a chapter from a Peter Rabbit story."

Well, even though it hurt that they laughed for quite a long time about the title, it still made me happy that what first came to Henry's mind was Peter Rabbit (though I usually like to associate myself with Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail - the good bunnies).

Blueberry Barn sits on a cliff with a wonderful view of the tide flats and sea. Spectacular summer sunsets glow through our windows at the end of nice days, and on not-so-nice days we fall asleep to the rain drumming on our metal roof. It's a small space, only 600 square feet, but it's perfect for a movie-making husband, his crafty wife, their cute little corgi, and the many friends that come to call. A home doesn't have to be big, as long as it's filled with love, it will always be a safe-haven for those who live there and visit.

So please, come over for a visit and lets get to know each other. I'll make a pot of tea and maybe some cookies and we'll talk out in the sunshine. And I'll share with you what life is like at Blueberry Barn.

  1. Yay! I am so happy you have your own blog, and as for the name, it is perfect. There are some people around here who do some strange things, too, to don't feel alone. I can't wait to see what appears in this space. Yay!!
